Everett Eugene Stark, age 88, of Winona, and formerly of Bluff Siding (Fountain City), joined the Church Triumphant on September 24, 2023, at Sauer Health Care, Winona. 

He was born February 24, 1935, in Winona, to Frank and Marie (Bess) Stark.

Everett was a life-long member of St. Martin’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Winona where he was baptized on March 21, 1935, and confirmed on April 2, 1950.  At St. Martin’s, Everett served as an usher, head usher, and on the Board of Elders, Board of Property, Board of Stewardship, and on the Call Committee.  He was also active with the Adult Sunday Morning Bible Study, and the Men’s Wednesday Morning Bible Breakfast.  He served on the Sauer Memorial Home Board of Directors, the Lamberton Home Board, and with the Winona Arms Board of Directors.

He graduated from Winona Senior High School in 1953 and completed his apprenticeship in Tool and Die in 1964.  He retired from Watlow, Inc., after 45 years of working in tool and die.

Everett married Doris Brown Pingel on May 25, 1996, at St. Martin’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Winona, and she preceded him in death in 2015.

He will be remembered for his enjoyment of deer hunting, trips on his motorcycle, restoring his vintage tractor, cheering for the Green Bay Packers, and traveling with Doris.                                                                                            

Everett is survived by a sister, Phyllis Jorde; sister-in-law, Grace Stark; step-children: Jacqueline (Rev. Dean) Mahlum and Donald (Kathy) Pingel; step-grandchildren: Katherine (Joshua) Parish, Danielle (Riley) Thomas, Alexandra Pingel, and Karalynn Pingel; nieces and nephews; great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Everett was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris; siblings and in-laws: Frederick Sr. (Ethel), Harriet (Clarence) Schueler, Harold Stark, Adela (Clarence) Tacke, Grace (Joseph) Kobus, Edna Vickery, Elizabeth (Clarence) Shank, Norman (Vera), William, David (Arlene), Stanley Jorde; and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 12:30 PM until the funeral service at 1:30 PM on Friday, September 29, 2023, at St. Martin’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 328 E. Broadway, Winona.  The Reverend Dean Mahlum and the Reverend Kyle Lewis will officiate.

Everett will be laid to rest in the Fountain City Public Cemetery.

The family thanks the Staff of Sauer Health Care for their care of Everett the past three years.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to St. Martin’s Radio Ministry, Sauer Health Care Music Program, the local Lutheran Hour broadcasts, or Christian Crusaders.
