Evelyn Corey

Evelyn H. Corey, age 94, of Winona, went to be with the Lord on September 8, 2018, at St. Anne Extended Healthcare in Winona, MN.

She was born on August 7, 1924, in Buffalo County, WI, to Michael and Rose (Lorbiecki) Bagniewski.  She was united in marriage with Donald L. Corey on June 1, 1948, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Arcadia, WI, and he preceded her in death on June 27, 1978.

Evelyn was employed with St. Anne Extended Healthcare for 25 years, and was a member of its Auxiliary.  She was also a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart and of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Winona Court #191.

She enjoyed cooking, baking, crafts, needlepoint and especially spending quality time with family.  She was very devoted to the church and volunteering at the senior center.

As a very kind and caring mom, grandma, great-grandma, and friend, she will be deeply missed.

Evelyn is survived by her children: Rollie (Linda) Corey; Roger (Jane) Corey; Rick (Patty) Corey; Rodney Corey; Becky (Gerry) Deutsch; and Reginald Corey;  15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother: Frank Bagniewski; sisters: Fran Czaplewski (late husband Dick) and Dorothy (George) Walski; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a son, Randy.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 15, 2018, in the Chapel of Our Lady at St. Anne Extended Healthcare. The Reverend Monsignor Thomas J. Hargesheimer will officiate.  Evelyn will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery.  Following the burial, a luncheon and reception will be held in the Gaudeamus Room at St. Anne’s.

Memorials would be preferred, and may be directed to the Catholic Daughters Court #191 of Winona.
