EVELYN M. BURFEIND

Evelyn Mae Burfeind, 91, of Rochester, MN, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at Samaritan Bethany Nursing Home in Rochester.

Evelyn was born in Lewiston, MN, on May 1, 1925, to Walter and Clara (Uecker) Stellwagen.  She was united in marriage to Carl Burfeind, on June, 16, 1946, in Lewiston. They were happily married for 67 years, until Carl’s passing on September 10, 2013.

Evelyn was a devoted mother, and gave great support and love to her family and grandchildren.  She was, more than anything, a “good mom.” Her faith was central to her life and family, and she was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rochester, where she taught Sunday School, served on many church committees and the Sarah Circle, sang in the church choir, and enjoyed helping with the church newsletter.  Traveling, cooking, and reading were some of Evelyn’s favorite past times.

Evelyn was active in the family business, Beauty Floor of Rochester, where she was bookkeeper and helped to manage the sales floor.

Evelyn is survived by her children:  Larry (Marj) Burfeind, Blaine, MN, Bob (Mary Kay) Burfeind, Minneapolis, MN, Jim (Linda) Burfeind, Missoula, MT, Sheri (John) Bialke, Boise, ID, Glenn (Debbie) Burfeind, Kalispell, MT, and David (Heather) Burfeind, Ellensburg, WA.  In addition, she is survived by 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marlene (Rueben) Krieger, Austin, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, one brother, and one sister.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, December 16, 2016, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rochester.  The Reverend Adam Koglin will officiate.  Visitation will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rochester on Friday, December 16, 2016, from 10 AM until the time of the service.

Evelyn will be laid to rest beside her husband in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN.
