Evarist "Bud" Sobotta

Evarist (Bud) Sobotta, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 92 on Tuesday, August 6, 2019.  He was born to Mary and Joseph Sobotta of Arcadia, Wisconsin where he was raised on their family farm.  There he found his true love of horses and music.  He found another true love and married Patricia (Pat Molitor) also of Arcadia and they raised four children, Rose Cyert, Roxanne Guenther, Patrick Sobotta and Randy Sobotta.

Bud had a lifelong love of music. He and his brother Jack formed a band as kids and played in many haybarns and dance halls around the local area over the years.  People recall those old shows with an excited reverence and they never forgot how Bud made them feel. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile and his kind and compassionate spirit.  Bud was such a social person that he couldn’t go anywhere without talking to people, telling stories and jokes and listening, and you never knew if he knew the people before he started talking to them.  He fell in love with horses at a young age and eventually had his own horses.  His horse, Trigger, was infamous for the tricks Bud taught him. Like a true cowboy, he could ride Trigger right into a bar while later collecting the money he had wagered on the horse’s abilities.

It wasn’t until his 40’s that he discovered his last true love, fishing.  His passion was so strong for fishing that he fished almost every day for years.  Even if he only had 30 minutes for worm wetting, he’d quickly jump in his old truck and head to the latest fishing hole he had heard was hitting.

With his passing the horses bow their heads, the guitars go silent, the fish get a reprieve, his loving wife sheds a tear and the world loses a little of its luster.  Go rest high on that mountain.

Evarist was preceded in death by his father, mother, brothers; Joseph, Clarence, Conard, Eugene, Cyril, sisters; Clara, Joan, Irene and great granddaughters: Kaya and Zaiya.  He is survived by his wife Patricia, his 4 children, Rose (William) Cyert, Patrick (Karen) Sobotta, Randy (Dawn) Sobotta and Roxie (Jeffrey) Guenther his sister Adeline and brother Marcel (Jack) and countless cousins, nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
