Edward E. Hohensee

Edward “Ed or Eddy” Emil Hohensee passed away unexpectedly in the early hours of July 21st, 2026. He was born in Winona on October 1st, 1958 to Charles and Marilyn (Sulla) Hohensee. Where he then grew up in Minnesota City with his parents and 4 siblings. Ed graduated from Winona Senior High in 1977. After high school Ed briefly worked at Winona Printing and later started working at RTP where he then retired after almost 50years in January of 2026.

Ed was known to many as a funny and a hard working man. In his earlier years in life he was married to Joni Hohensee-Burbach and had their two wonderful boys, Dylan and Nicholas. Later they were divorced and he then spent the remainder of his time with Tricia Rasmussen.

Eddy enjoyed woodworking, playing with his many remote control vehicles, and fishing. Going out on the river any chance he had. And also tinkering with anything he could. He had a way of working with just about any project thrown his way! Nothing was ever too big or too small; he found a way to get it done!

After retirement Ed enjoyed watching old western movies, old western tv shows, and car restoration shows. Or cheering for his favorite sports teams. If he wasn't doing that you could find him fishing down at the Minnesota City Boat Club. Having a beer, and calling all the family. Terrorizing his and Dave’s beloved cat Blue also known as “Mayhem”-the stories of Ed and Blue would keep anyone laughing. And most mornings you could find Eddy hanging out with his best friend Luis Gonzales working on house projects, finding a new project to tackle, or enjoying some delicious Cuban food and sharing all the crazy stories.

He is survived by his two sons Dylan (Jada) Hohensee-Burbach, Nicholas (Olivia) Burbach, his siblings David Hohensee, Michael (Toni) Hohensee, Donna Hoffman, and Bonnie (Brian) Olson. He also had a granddaughter Londyn Burbach, and grandson Walker Sherman, many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Marilyn Hohensee, brother-in-law Bill Hoffman, uncle Emil Sulla, uncle David Greden, and his cousin John Sulla.

Ed was loved by many, and will be missed by even more. His stories will live on through everyone that knew him! 

A celebration of his life will be held at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, 376 E. Sarnia St., Winona, on Friday, July 31, 2026, from 10 AM until 1 PM.

A private family burial will be held at St. Paul's Cemetery in Minnesota City.
