DOUGLAS C. HORSNELL, JR.

Douglas C. Horsnell, Jr., age 82, of Stockton, MN, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2017, at Lake Winona Manor.

He was born on July 10, 1935, in St. Paul, MN, to Douglas and Isabelle (Longton) Horsnell, Sr.  He was united in marriage with Virginia Grulkowski on July 14, 1973, in Winona, and she preceded him in death on August 24, 2001.  He later married Mary (Haeuser) Hundt on February 16, 2002.

Doug was employed with Watkins, Boelter Industries, and he worked at Hal Leonard in Winona for over 25 years.  Following his retirement, he enjoyed driving for DunX.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Winona.

Doug will be remembered for his love of canoeing and swimming on the St. Croix River, riding his 4-wheeler, and his enjoyment of dancing, traveling, and his pets.  As a musician, he liked to play the piano and guitar, as well as listening to Irish music.  Doug looked forward to watching his granddaughters perform Irish dancing and going to their gymnastic meets.

Doug is lovingly survived by his wife, Mary; daughters: Lisa (Marty) Johnson, and Andrea (David) Ellings; grandchildren:  Zach and Noah Johnson, and Emma and Grant Ellings; great-grandson, Easton Johnson; step-children: Stephen (Billie) Rudnik, James Rudnik, Robert Rudnik, Dan-Mary (John) Kahoun,  Ann (Beaj) Kujak, and Stacy (Tim) Flanagan; a “special” daughter: Marie (Justin) Barrientos; step-grandchildren: Minta, Nick, Trevor, Brin, and Chad Rudnik; Amy and John Kahoun;  Aileen, Rosemary, Olivia, Gloria, Grace, and Fiona Flanagan; and Kariana, Ben, and Alex Barrientos; mother-in-law: Mary Stiehl; in-laws: Ray Schneider, Carrol (Jim) Glodowski, Rose (Richard) Waldera, Bob Stiehl, Joan (Duane) Wobig, Larry (Mary) Stiehl, Roseanne (Bob) Berberich, and Margaret (Alfred) Schlesser; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Virginia; sister, Jean Schneider; and a step-son, Jeff Hundt.

A Mass of Christin Burial will be offered at 10:30 AM on Friday, August 11, 2017, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Winona.  The Reverend James Berning will officiate.

Doug will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

The recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be held at 4 PM on Thursday, August 10, 2017, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, with visitation following the Rosary until 7 PM.  Visitation will also be held on Friday, August 11, 2017, from 9:30 AM until 10:15 AM in the Commons of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Pallbearers will be: Zach Johnson, Noah Johnson, Grant Ellings, John Kahoun, Jesse Stiehl, Duane Wobig, and Olivia Flanagan.
