Dorothy Rick died unexpectedly of a hemorrhagic stroke on June 23, 2020, in Winona, MN.
Born and raised in Winona, she was a lifelong member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. Until the end of her life, Dorothy stayed active and independent, with the support of neighbors, getting around the city she loved using her preferred mode of transportation – her bicycle.
Dorothy will be remembered for her genuine smile, many friendships, unique flair, and bouquet of color in her clothing. She loved dogs, especially sighthounds, and nearly always had a Borzoi and Scottish Deerhound.
In her work life, Dorothy wore many hats, including positions at Hardt’s Music, Park and Rec leader, Farmers’ Exchange, her own Many Hats store, Winona Mills and WinCraft.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernis (Frederick) and August Rick, and family friend, Brother Charles Severin. She is survived by her daughter, Pilar Rick; her beloved Bichon Poodle, Lyric; as well as special friends: David Girod, Ellen Enright, Rita Grenison, and Margie White.
There will be a private family memorial service due to Covid-19.
