Donna Benson

Donna J. Benson, age 77, of Winona, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at Sauer Health Care, surrounded by her family.

She was born on August 15, 1940, in Winona, to Martin and Alvera (Renstrom) Apka.  Donna was united in marriage with Earl Benson on December 23, 1956, at Grace Lutheran Church in Peterson, MN, and he preceded her in death on July 17, 1996.

Donna was employed as a CNA at Sauer Health Care in Winona for many years.  She will be remembered for her love of playing BINGO, working crossword puzzles, coloring, shopping, and going for car rides with her dog, Sadie.  Donna was a loving wife, mom, and grandma, who will be deeply missed by all those who loved her.

Donna is survived by her children: Randy (Kathy) Benson; Peggy (Bill) Bergler; Cindy (John) Neumann; Jackson (Diana) Benson; Kathy (Terry) Rollinger; and Jenny (Travis) Althoff; 10 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; as well as other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant son Thomas, parents, one sister, and her dog, Sadie.

Visitation will be held from 5 PM until 8 PM on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, and also from 10 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at Central Lutheran Church in Winona.  The Reverend Louise Stromberg will officiate.  Donna will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery.
