Donald "Nut" W. Stutzka

Donald W. “Nut” Stutzka, age 61, of Winona, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in the comfort of his home, on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on September 21, 1962, in Winona, to Ralph and Mary Lou (Link) Stutzka.  At the age of 16, Nut got his first job working at the Hot Fish Shop, which led to him being a cook at Shorty’s, Schniepp’s, and Alley Cats.  He was later employed with Winona Health in the housekeeping department at Watkins Manor, until his retirement due to health reasons.

Nut will be remembered as an avid fan of the Miami Dolphins, his love of fireworks, and that he was never seen without a Budweiser.  He also enjoyed playing softball, darts, watching Westerns on TV, and he attended many music concerts over the years.  Those who knew him best will miss his great smile, which could light up a room.

Nut is lovingly survived by his mother, Mary Lou; siblings: Edd Stutzka, Dave (Sonia) Stutzka, Sharon (Mike Pellowski) Stutzka, and Sandy (Tom Carlson) Stutzka; nieces and nephews: Mindi, Mandi, Nicole, Josh, Derek, Shonna, Jenny, and RJ; as well as several great-nieces, great-nephews, and a host of friends who were like family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Stutzka; maternal grandparents, Leo and Lucille Link; and paternal grandparents, Paul and Louise Stutzka.

Visitation will be held at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home on Friday, May 3, 2024, from 11:30 AM until the funeral service at 1:30 PM.  Deacon Justin Green will officiate.

A luncheon and reception will be held at the funeral home after the service, and a celebration of his life will continue at the East Side following the luncheon.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorials be considered to Winona Health Hospice, or to a charity of choice.
