Donald A. Borck

Donald Allen Borck, 91, of Lewiston, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026, in Lewiston, MN. Born on December 18, 1934, in Hokah, Minnesota, to Alvin and Ella Borck, he was baptized in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit on January 9, 1935. On Reformation Sunday, October 31, 1948, he was confirmed in the faith. Don lived a full and meaningful life dedicated to his family, faith, and community.

Don attended school in Houston, Minnesota, where he began building the foundation for a life marked by hard work and devotion. In 1955, he proudly joined the United States Army as a Combat Engineer. During his service, he had the unique experience of serving alongside Elvis Presley in Germany. After three years of honorable service to his country, Don was discharged on September 18, 1958. On April 23, 1960, Don was united in marriage to Virginia Smith.

A man of many talents and passions, Don found joy and purpose in farming—a lifelong accomplishment that brought him great pride. He also worked alongside his son at Borck Construction and took on projects with care and precision. However, Don considered his greatest achievement to be raising six children with Virginia: Robert (Kelly) Borck, Lorie (Randy) Rolbiecki, Dan Borck, Kenneth (Carol) Borck, Mark (Kathy) Borck, and Bill (Andrea) Borck. His legacy extended further through his cherished grandchildren: Dan (Ana), Jake, Mandi (Paul), Jessie, David, Johnny (Kiarra), Paul, Marcus (Morgan), Emily, Andrew, Brandon (Gabagail), Christa, Caitlyn, and Cambria. Don was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren and two beloved granddogs—Gus and Penelope.

Don’s faith was central to his life. As a devoted member of Grace Lutheran Church in Stockton, he served as an Elder and shared his love of scripture by teaching Sunday school and Bible study classes. He also led vacation Bible school programs where he inspired children through engaging Bible Quiz Bowls. His commitment to helping others extended beyond the church walls as he contributed to Mercy Meals for World Relief.

An avid reader and writer with a gift for words, Don wrote numerous letters to the editor for the *Lewiston Journal* and delighted family members with heartfelt letters that showcased his thoughtfulness and creativity. He loved Twins baseball and enjoyed gopher hunting as well as tending to calf chores—a task he continued until the age of 87.

Don’s warm smile and one-of-a-kind laugh left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. He was a brother to Al Borck and Leon (Bonnie) Borck. Preceding him in death were his parents and the love of his life, his wife Virginia Borck.

Donald Allen Borck will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to family and faith as well as his ability to bring joy to those around him. May his memory and Jesus’ promise bring comfort to all who knew him.
