On July 4, 2020, Darrel George Kramer’s life on earth ended after a courageous battle with cancer. He was diagnosed on August 5, 2019, and was only given weeks to months to live. In true Darrel fashion, he went out with a bang on Independence Day, and far exceeded the time he was given, never choosing to take to easy road. His last breath was taken at Whitewater Health Services at the age of 68. Darrel was the fifth child born to Henry and Delores Kramer on July 1, 1952. He grew up in Winona County and lived in the Stockton/Lewiston area his adult years.
He was employed by a number of local businesses, but excelled most at Winona Lighting. Darrel was the kind of man who could make a friend anywhere and was a loyal and true friend to many. He will be remembered for making people belly laugh with his pranks and stories. His favorite hobby was to tinker with cars, always wheeling and dealing, with each sale beginning with, “What do ya gotta have for that?” and never wanting to part with any of his beloved treasures.
Darrel had many loves throughout his life and tried the married life twice (Jenny & Jody, both deceased). Another love was his need for speed which he often exercised with his Harley Davidson and many collector cars. He was proud of his bike(s) and enjoyed riding the open road. He also had a love for music and could often be found tapping his foot to many eclectic bands.
But the biggest love he had was for his only child, Angie (Chad) Orum. Their love was unconditional, and she made him so very proud. He was overjoyed with the two grandchildren she gave him, Gage and Teagan.
Darrel is survived by his daughter and her family: Angie and Chad Orum, Teagan and Gage Hansen, Colt Orum; sister, Darlene Johnson; brother, Bill Kramer; and sister-in-law, Lois Kramer; and many nieces, nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Jeanette (Jud) Sorenson and Marlene (Bob) Buege; brother, Wayne Kramer; and brother-in-law: Kenneth Johnson.
Due to COVID19, there will be a private memorial for family only.
