Daniel Mounce

Daniel Lee Mounce, age 79, of Winona passed away quickly Thursday evening, January 7, 2021, at the Winona Health hospital.

Dan was born in Marshfield, Wisconsin, to Forrest and Bette Mounce, and graduated from Marshfield Senior High in 1959.  He was recruited by the Milwaukee Braves (later the Brewers) because he was a left-handed pitcher that struck everyone out!  His father said he didn’t see how anyone could make a living playing baseball, so he insisted that Danny go to college instead.

Dan graduated from the University of Wisconsin—Whitewater with a degree in Business Administration. He worked for Household Finance from 1964-1971, and then moved to Winona to take a vice president position for Winona National and Savings Bank from 1971- 1998.

Throughout his life, he actively supported his community through his service to the Elks, Winona Civic Association, Kiwanis, and the WSU Warrior Club.

He is survived by his daughter, Stacey Mounce Arnold (Chris Arnold); four grandchildren: Alexandra, Andrew, Madelyn, and Morgan; ex-wife Shirley Mounce; brother: Gary (Maryann) Mounce, and their children: Ashlie and Lukas.

At his request there will be no funeral, only a private burial at Hillside Cemetery in Marshfield, WI.

Memorials may be directed to St. Martin’s Lutheran School.
