Dale Czapiewski

Dale William Czapiewski passed away at home on October 17, 2021, surrounded by his family.

Born on April 13, 1943, in Winona, MN, to Clarence (Cal) and Marion (Schneider) Czapiewski, Dale spent his childhood along the banks of the Mississippi River, happily hunting and fishing with his father and brother.  He graduated from Winona Senior High in 1961. Shortly after, Dale proudly stepped up to answer the call to serve his country during the Vietnam War, stationed at the DMZ in South Korea. He was also a lifelong member of the VFW. Dale had a 38-year career in the Heat Treat department at Peerless Chain.

Dale married Marie Campbell on September 19, 1992, and the couple shared the next 29 years together. He often pointed to his wedding ring and referred to their marriage as “more than just a band of gold.” Their marriage was full of love.

Dale was very skilled at fixing and repairing on a wide range of projects. There was nothing in Dale’s, or his children’s homes and garages, that he couldn’t fix.  After he retired, and when he wasn’t helping his family, Dale also assisted his brother, David, on his farm, fixing equipment and feeding cattle, as well as the many barn cats.

Dale is survived by his wife Marie; his children: Tamara Czapiewski, Jenna Czapiewski (Anthony Ware), Cassie  (Jason) Neuman and Melanie Czapiewski (Matt Erickson); his step-children: Melissa Baker and Dominique (Kellie) Baker; his 4 grandchildren: Haidon and Stella Neumann, Oakley Baker, and Mason Erickson; his sister: Darlene Schlesser; along with numerous relatives, friends and extended relatives in the Campbell family.Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Marion Czapiewski; brother, David Czapiewski; brother-in-law, Richard Schlesser; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Dale will be remembered for his keen bargaining skills often resulting in great deals. He loved his garage sale hunts and dumpster diving finds. His love for food is fondly recalled, especially his delight in “eating on the relatives”! Most of all, this loving husband, wonderful Dad, gentle Papa, helpful brother, and amazing friend, will be remembered for his complete love and commitment to his family.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until a funeral service at 11 AM on Friday, October 22, 2021, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, 376 East Sarnia St., Winona.  Father Thomas Loomis will officiate.  Dale will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery, where the American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post 9 of Winona will provide military honors.

Memorials may be directed to Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Rochester, MN.
