Charlotte Kwosek

Charlotte H. Kwosek, age 71, of Winona, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, surrounded by her family.

She was born on August 4, 1949, in La Crosse, WI, to Herbert and Arvilla (Papenfuss) Albrecht, and grew up in Nodine, MN.  In 1963, the family moved to Winona, where Charlotte attended Winona Senior High School.  In 1970, she moved to Nebraska, where she met and married David Rico, and they had one son, David John “DJ”.  Charlotte and David later divorced.

Charlotte returned to Winona in 1980, and was employed with the Winona Knitting Mills, and then with Saint Mary’s University until her retirement.  She enjoyed bartending on the weekends at the East Side, and this is where she made many friends, including her future husband, Steve, and they were married in December of 2003.

She will be remembered as an avid reader, and she especially cherished the time that she spent with her sisters and many friends.  She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Charlotte is lovingly survived by her husband, Steve; son: DJ (Lacey) Rico; grandchildren: Bradyn, Michael, and Maddy; brothers: John (Karen) Albrecht and Tom (Jean) Albrecht; sisters: Sharon (Lloyd) Salisbury, Shirley Frey, and Cheryl Hodge; brother-in-law: Tim (Marie) Kwosek; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother, Herbert; mother-in-law: Helen Tamble; nieces: Stacy Smith and Missy Kwosek; great-niece: Taylor Swanson; and a brother-in-law: Michael Kwosek.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the funeral service at 10:30 AM on Friday, June 25, 2021, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, 376 East Sarnia Street, Winona.  Chaplain Alma Buco will officiate.  A family burial will be held at a later date.
