Bruce G. Whetstone, 77, died at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, January 24, 2024.
He was born on December 8, 1946 in Winona, MN to Jule G. and Doris M. (Kuchel) Whetstone. He married Jacquelyn J. Peterson on August 3, 1968, and together have five children: Shelley Dvorak, Jolene Krieger, Shawn Whetstone, Beau Whetstone and Miranda Menting (Trevor). He has 8 grandchildren: Colton Hansell, Lillian Whetstone, Brody Whetstone, Brianne Menting, Owen Menting, Vincent Dvorak, Ivy Dvorak and Radek Dvorak; with one great grandchild, Brock Hansell.
He is survived by siblings: Gary Whetstone (Phyllis), Judith Whetstone, Bette Lofald (Karl), Penny Spaag (Steve), James Whetstone (Melanie), Bradley Cisewski (Kelly), along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents Jule G. Whetstone and Doris M. Whetstone (Dick).
Bruce graduated from Winona Senior High School in 1966. He worked all his life as an auto recycler being the owner of Whetstone Auto and Truck Salvage, Inc. He enjoyed owning and restoring automobiles especially the Ford Mustang. He also enjoyed metal detecting where Bruce and his wife travelled to Nome, AK, Zortman, MT, Colorado, and Arizona.
Bruce’s family would like to express their appreciation to the Gundersen Health System-Hospice for his care.
Bruce was a life-time member of the Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Winona, MN. He enjoyed spending time with many of the friends in the congregation.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, 376 East Sarnia Street, Winona, MN. Visitation will begin at 1 PM, with a memorial talk at 2 PM.
