Brother Thomas E. Houde, FSC

Brother Thomas Eugene Houde, FSC, a De La Salle Christian Brother for 49 years, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Winona Health.

On September 3, 2024, he transferred to St. Anne Extended Healthcare after living since October 2015 at Callista Court in Winona. Prior to his move to Callista Court, Brother Thomas taught in the Theatre Department at Saint Mary’s University from 2001-2014. He had taught at Bethlehem University in Palestine from 1995-2000 after serving at schools in the Twin Cities and Stevens Point Wisconsin, and after directing student retreats at Christian Brothers Retreat Center (Dunrovin) in Marine on St. Croix, MN.

Brother Thomas was born on February 14, 1946, and was raised in Minneapolis where he attended Christ the King School and De La Salle High School, graduating in 1964.

He earned his Bachelors, Masters, and Doctoral degrees from the University of Minnesota (Minneapolis) and a Masters in Pastoral Studies from the University of Saint Thomas in St. Paul.

Brother Thomas entered the Christian Brothers Community in 1975 and made his final profession in 1985.

Visitation will be held in the St. Thomas More Chapel on the campus of Saint Mary’s University in Winona on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 10:30 AM until the celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM. Burial will be at Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Winona.

Memorials can be directed to Christian Brothers Retirement Fund, 7650 S. County Line Rd., Burr Ridge, IL 60527.
