Beverly Otto

Beverly C. Otto, age 93, of Winona, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2019, at the Gundersen Health System Hospital in La Crosse.

Beverly was born on March 30, 1925, in Winona, to Raymond and Pearl (Schultz) Tews.   She graduated as Valedictorian of her class from Winona Senior High School, and later completed studies at the Winona Secretarial College.  Beverly was united in marriage with Richard Otto on June 29, 1952, at St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winona.

She was employed as the secretary to the Dean of Students at St. Teresa’s College, and later in the communications department with St. Mary’s College, until her retirement.  She was a member of St. Martin’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winona.

Beverly was a talented musician, and in her younger years, she enjoyed tap dancing, as well as playing the accordion and Hawaiian guitar. Beverly will be remembered for her love of traveling, enjoying weekends on the river, and she especially cherished the time she spent with her family.

Beverly is lovingly survived by her husband, Dick; daughter: Kristine Otto; son: Steve (Linda) Otto; grandchildren: Erika (Todd) Filipkowski, Alisha Dittes, and Barron (Emily) Otto; 7 great-grandchildren; a sister: La Vonne (Larry) Robitschek; as well as other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held from 2 PM until 4 PM on Sunday, March 17, 2019, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home.  Visitation will also be held from noon until the funeral service at 12:30 PM on Monday, March 18, 2019, at St. Martin’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.  The Reverend Richard A. Moore will officiate.  Beverly will be laid to rest in the spring at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Barron Otto will assist as a pallbearer.
