Betty A. Reissman, age 88, of Dakota, MN, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2020.
Betty was born on February 6, 1932, in rural Pickwick, MN, to Herman and Nora (Armitage) Papenfuss. She was united in marriage with Rolf Reissman on June 7, 1953, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nodine, and they enjoyed almost 63 years of marriage on a small farm in Dakota Valley until Rolf’s passing on June 2, 2016.
She was employed with Farm and Fleet in La Crosse for nine years as their seasonal department head, and volunteered for over 16 years at the Good Steward Resale Shop.
Betty was a member of the Dakota Homemakers, and of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nodine and its Ladies Aid. She will be remembered for her enjoyment of cooking, baking, her flower gardens, and she cherished the time she spent with her family. Most of all, she loved living in the country where she could appreciate all the blessings of nature.
Betty is lovingly survived by her daughters: Nadine (Jeff) Mueller; Glenda (John) Roellich; and Sandy (Jeff) Anderson; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother: Eugene (Idella) Papenfuss; sister-in-law: Luise (Gil) Breeser; her extended family: Joe, Vicki, and Anthony Baumgartner; special friends: Fran Janikowski and Richard Brown; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers: Clyde, Arvid, Ellsworth, and Weston; and a sister, Elva Parpart.
Due to current health concerns and restrictions, a private family service will be held at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nodine, with the Reverend Dennis Harbach officiating. Betty will be laid to rest in the church cemetery. A video stream of the service will be posted to Betty’s tribute page at www.watkowski-mulyck.com when it becomes available.
Pallbearers will be: Jake Roellich, Dana Aarre, Jon Powell, Jamie Eide, Jeff Helgerson, Terry Anderson, and Anthony Baumgartner.
It is respectfully requested that memorials be directed to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church or School in Nodine, or to a charity of choice.
Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home of Winona is assisting with arrangements.
