Barbara Weinberger

Barbara A. Weinberger, age 83, of Winona, passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2018, at the Winona Health Hospital.

Barb was born on June 13, 1935, in Winona, to Roman and Gertrude (Martin) Kauphusman.  Barb was a graduate of Winona Senior High School, attended Jamestown State in North Dakota, and completed her teaching degree at Winona State.  She enjoyed being a substitute teacher at the Cathedral Grade School for many years.

On May 26, 1961, Barb was united in marriage with John G. Weinberger in Rochester, MN, and he preceded her in death on October 15, 2015.

She was an avid bowler for many years with the Monday night Pin Topplers league, and was a member of the Winona Bowling Association where she served as its secretary and was inducted into its Bowling Hall of Fame.  Barb will be remembered for her love of gardening, canning, and as an avid sports fan, she loved cheering for the Twins, Vikings, and Gophers.

Barb had a deep and abiding Christian faith.  She was a member of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka, where she faithfully attended daily Mass.

She will be deeply missed by all those who loved her.

Barb is lovingly survived by her sons: John (Claudia) of Winona, and Bob (Renee) of Fredericksburg, VA; grandchildren: Matthew, Anna, Cody and Colin; siblings: Dick (Pat) Kauphusman, Chippewa Falls, WI; John (Mary) Kauphusman, Rochester, MN; Rita Kauphusman, Dunkirk, NY; Rick (Kathy) Kauphusman, St. Paul, MN; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and her siblings: Bob, Mary, Don, Margaret, Jean, Luanne, and Jim.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM on Friday, August 24, 2018, at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka.  The Reverend Patrick Arens will officiate.  Barb will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
