Barbara L. Cada, age 83, of Winona, passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born on March 9, 1935, in Winona, to Edmund and Hazel (Kanz) Ratajczyk, and was united in marriage with Edward Cada on January 5, 1963, at St. John Nepomucene Church in Winona.
Barb worked for various retail stores in Winona, and was a model for Christopher and Banks clothing store. She was a member of St. John Nepomucene Church where she was active in the choir, Rosary Society, and helping with the annual church bazaar. She was also active with Harvest House, Winona Women’s Aglow, the Polish Museum, and she was a dedicated volunteer with Grace Place for many years.
She will be remembered for her love of shopping, reading, going to plays, and traveling to Florida and Branson. Barb had an extensive collection of angels, and as a long-time fan, she enjoyed collecting the memorabilia and music of Elvis. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Barb is lovingly survived by her husband, Ed; children: Dallas (Sherry) Cada, Dawn (Dennis) Cooper, Jackie (Rick) Cada, and Eileen Cada; grandchildren: Heather, Brian, Aaron, Charity (Christopher, Sr.), Carl, Sean, Craig, John, and Amanda; great-grandchildren: Andrew, Isaac, Cameron, Caroline, Christopher, Jr., Dominic, Malachi, Jordan, Karmine, Nasia, Elijah, and Aiden; brother: Edward (Deanna) Ratajczyk; sister: Janice (Greg) Fye; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a grandson, Colton.
Visitation will be held from 4 PM until 7 PM on Friday, October 12, 2018, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 6:30 PM, followed by a time to share memories. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 AM on Saturday, October 13, 2018, at St. John Nepomucene Church in Winona. The Very Reverend Patrick Arens will officiate. There will not be any visitation held on Saturday, please meet at the church for the Mass. Barb will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Barb’s grandsons.
The family respectfully asks that memorials be considered, and directed to breast cancer research.
