Arvis George

Arvis M. George, age 80, of Alma, WI, passed away on Friday, May 18, 2018, at her home.

She was born on May 26, 1937, in Galesville, WI, to John and Irma (Veto) Marsh, Sr.  She married Norman George, Jr., and they later divorced.

Arvis was employed with the Winona Knitting Mills, as a nurse aide with the Pepin Manor, and she worked as a custodian at the Buffalo County Courthouse in Alma for 20 years until her retirement.  She was a member of Hope United Church of Christ in Cochrane and its Ladies Aid.

She will be remembered for her love of quilting and embroidery, and the companionship of her cats.  She enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren, especially going fishing, and she was proud to have embroidered towel sets for all of them.

Arvis is survived by her children: David (Lois) George, John (Daneya Severson) George, Cheyianne George, Bernadette (Mike) Sands, Karen Bremer, and Deb George; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister: Renay (LaVern) Martinson; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother: John Curtis Marsh, Jr.; and a sister: Arlys Martinson.

Visitation will be held from 6 PM until 9 PM on Monday, May 21, 2018, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home.  Visitation will also be held from 10 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at Hope United Church of Christ in Cochrane, WI.  Pastor Greg Ferriss will officiate.  Burial will be in the Yaeger Valley Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or to the Minnesota State Services for the Blind.
