Arthur Niemi, Jr.

Arthur A. Niemi, Jr., age 73, of Winona, passed away on Saturday January 5, 2019, at St. Anne Extended Healthcare.

Art was born on August 25, 1945, in Kenosha, WI, to Arthur and Mary (Rannick) Niemi, Sr.  He grew up in Millston, WI, and attended school in Black River Falls, WI.  Following high school, Art attended Viterbo College in La Crosse, and Winona State University.  He was employed for over 20 years with Lake Center, and also with the Minnesota City Bus Company.

He will be remembered for his love of garage sales, reading, and his immense interests and hobbies which included everything from electronics to plumbing.  His great sense of humor and fun will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Art is survived by his children: John (Kevin) Niemi, Susan Niemi, Art (Presh) Niemi, III, Sandra (Niemi) Rosenberg, Lance Niemi, and Valeri (Jesse) Niemi; 15 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister: Marjorie Antonsen; former wife, Linda Jick; as well as other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; former wife, Marilyn (Plate) Niemi; and a special friend, Betty Hensel.

A memorial service will be held at 6 PM on Monday, January 7, 2019, at Grace Presbyterian Church in Winona.  The Reverend Rachel Riggle will officiate.  Following the service, a celebration of Art’s life and a time of fellowship will be held at the church until 8 PM.
