Antoinette Virginia “Toni” Frederick Fox, 99, died peacefully on May 26 at the home of her daughter Mary, where she has resided the past eight years.
Toni was born September 23, 1918 in Paris, Wisconsin to Catherine (nee Terry) and Michael Frederick. She attended local grade and high school, Whitewater State Teacher’s College and graduated from Racine-Kenosha Rural Normal School. On October 9,1943 she was united in Holy Matrimony with William F. Fox at Saint John’s Catholic Church in Paris, Wisconsin.
She began her career teaching all eight grades in a one room school in the Kenosha County Schools and later taught at Holy Angels School in Aurora, Illinois. After retiring from teaching she was employed at Mercy Center, later at McAuley Manor and volunteered at both Rosary High School and Provena Mercy Center. She was a life member of Saint Catherine’s Hospital Auxiliary, Kenosha, Wisconsin, Mercy Center Auxiliary and the Abbot Marmion Society of Marmion Abbey in Aurora, Illinois. She was also a member of the Basilica of Saint Stanislaus Kostka in Winona and Annunciation BVM Parish in Aurora, Illinois.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary Catherine of Winona, Minnesota and four sons, James (Susan) of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Daniel (Mary) of Saugatuck, Michigan, Michael (Barbara) of Town & Country, Missouri and Bill (Janice) of Batavia, Illinois, eleven grandchildren: James (Megan) Fox, Christopher Fox, Lauren Fox Brown (Ward), Brian Fox, William Fox and fiancé Alexandra Lake, Veronica Fox Miller (Ryan), Molly Fox Larimer (Adam), Captain Thomas F. Fox, USA (Chloe), Rebecca Fox, First Lieutenant Jane Fox, Alyssa Fox and eleven great grandchildren: Andrew Fox, Christopher “CJ” Fox, Liza Brown, Sarah Antoinette Fox, Charlotte Brown, Madeline Fox, Mikayla Miller, Grant Fox, Antoinette “Etta” Fox, Louise Larimer, Braydin Miller and many nieces and nephews and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bill on July 1, 1996, a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Madden (Daniel) Fox, her grandson’s wife, Erika Knight (James) Fox, her parents and by four brothers, Lawrence, Frank, Louis, Albert and six sisters, Anne, Margaret, Sister Carolyn OSF, Sister Laurene OSF, Elizabeth and Louise.
Toni added grace and happiness to the lives of all who knew her and will be deeply missed. She will always be remembered for her great devotion to her faith, especially the Rosary, and to her family and friends.
Visitation will be at the Daleiden Mortuary, 220 North Lake Street, Aurora, Illinois, on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, from 4 until 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, June 7, 2018, at Annunciation BVM Catholic Church in Aurora, with Abbot Vincent Bataille, OSB, presiding.
A Memorial Mass is being planned for a future date at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka for Toni's friends in Winona, and will be announced later.
Memorials may be directed to Annunciation BVM Parish or Marmion Abbey in Aurora, Illinois.
