Sydney E. Aldinger, age 87, of Winona, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 6, 2019, at Lake Winona Manor.
He was born on January 10, 1932, in Winona, to Arthur and Lillian (Poeppel) Aldinger. He honorably served his country with the United States Army from 1953 to 1955, and enjoyed his time in the military.
Syd farmed for many years on the family farm, and was also employed with Miller Scrap, prior to his retirement. He will be remembered for his love of watching the weather, as well as being a huge fan of baseball and the Minnesota Twins. He was a member of St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pickwick.
Syd is survived by his brother: Edward (Esther) Aldinger; nieces and nephews: Michael Aldinger, Marty Aldinger, Tami (Kipp) Eckert, and Jeffrey (Delores) Aldinger; as well as great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother and sister-in-law, Gaylord and Donnalee Aldinger.
Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM on Friday, September 13, 2019, at St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pickwick. The Reverend James D. Nelson will officiate. Syd will be laid to rest in the Witoka Cemetery.
