Gerhardt Frederich Edward Matthees, known to all as Gary, age 89, of Bloomington, MN, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at the Minnesota Masonic Home in Bloomington.

He was born on March 26, 1928, at home in Norton Township, Winona County, to Rudolph and Emma (Tews) Matthees.  He was united in marriage with Dauphney M. Anderson on September 27, 1952, in South Saint Paul, and she preceded him in death on November 26, 2016.

He was a man of faith. He was a man of the soil. He was a man of hard work. He was a man of humor, kindness, and optimism. He enjoyed the outdoors and walked, camped, boated, fished, and hunted. Heartfelt thanks goes out to his many caregivers and friends at Masonic Homes.
