August 15, 1933 ~ August 27, 2019 (age 86)

Curtis John Stark, age 86, passed away at Sauer Health Care surrounded by his family on August 27, 2019.

Curt was born August 15, 1933, to Albert and Minnie Stark in Altura, where he then grew up.  Curt attended Altura Public School and Lewiston High School.  After high school he enlisted in the Army, he then married the love of his life, Betty J. Larson, in 1954.  After completing his military service he worked as a butter maker, candy maker, television repairman and then finished his working career as a Chief Engineer for St. Teresa’s College for more than 30 years.

Throughout his life he enjoyed camping, fishing, trains, airplanes and traveling with family and friends.  Curtis was an avid Vikings and Twins fan.  He was a very wise, smart, ambitious man, never without a job or two to do. Curtis was a quiet, soft spoken and respectful man and will be missed dearly by many.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, two sisters, an infant daughter and son, Kurt Stark.  He is survived by his wife, Betty Stark; sons: Richard (Debra) Stark, Daniel (Debra) Stark, DonLea “Pete” (Debra) Stark, Christopher (Erin) Stark, and daughter, LoRae (Steve) Chick; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, whom he dearly loved.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until the short funeral service at 2:30 PM on Saturday, September 7, 2019, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at the Oakwood Cemetery in Utica, MN, where the American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post 9 will provide military honors.   Following the burial, a gathering and refreshments will be held at the Utica School.

The family would like to thank the staff at Sauer Health Care for the excellent care and love he received the last few years of his life.
