Sandra "Sandy" Stiever

It is with sad and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mom, and grandma, Sandra “Sandy” Stiever.  She passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Friday, May 1, 2020, with family by her side.

Sandy was born on November 10, 1954, to Joseph and Lenora (Koetz) Kammerer.  She attended a one room country school for 7 years and graduated from Cotter High School.  She then attended Winona Area Technical School for Licensed Practical Nursing.  Sandy worked as a nurse for 30 years, and then completed her associate degree in nursing.  Sandy was employed with Winona Health for 45 years, retiring in March 2019.

On May 11, 1974, Sandy married the love of her life and best friend, Roger Stiever.  Their marriage was built on a good foundation, and her family was extremely important to her.  They were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Jill and Jana; embraced 8 wonderful grandchildren: Jill’s kids: Trevor, Abigail, and Benjamin; and Jana’s kids: Jack, Meghan, Annabel, William, and Peter.

Sandy loved the simple country life where she lived her entire life. She returned to the edge of her childhood home after 25 years to a house she and Roger built together.

She will be remembered for her love of tea parties in the “she shed;” holiday celebrations with Christmas being the most special; baking special treats for her grandkids and always treating to Bloedow’s.

She also enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, sewing, and knitting.  Sandy was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wilson, where she was active with decorating with the Arts and Environment Committee.

She was a loving wife, mom, grandma, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.  We will wrap ourselves in the many wonderful memories you have given us.

Sandy is lovingly survived by her husband Roger; daughters: Jill (Thomas) Reinholt, and Jana (Michael) Harcus; her eight grandkids; brother: James Kammerer; sister-in-law: Cynthia Kammerer; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Valentine and Mary Jo Stiever; sister-in-law: Ruth Breza; as well as other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; brother: Gerald “Jerry” Kammerer; sister-in-law: Estela Kammerer; and a brother-in-law: Dennis Breza.

Due to current health concerns, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held for her family, with burial at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Wilson.

Pallbearers will be:  Tom Reinholt, Michael Harcus, Jack Harcus, Trevor Reinholt, Dennis Bergler and Valentine Stiever.

Memorials would be appreciated to the Immaculate Conception Cemetery Fund.
