Matt was born on March 26, 1981, in St. Louis Park, MN to Robert and Bonnie (Novosad) Flom. He was baptized at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in St. Louis Park and was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Faribault, MN in 1994.  Matt spent his early school years in Faribault. When his family moved to Winona, MN Matt attended Cotter High School there and Winona Senior High where he graduated in 1999. He was also a graduate of Minnesota Southeast Technical College and was pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology at Concordia University in St. Paul, MN.

Matt was an IT Litigation and Investigation Specialist for St. Jude Medical in Roseville, MN for eight years. He was most recently employed with C.H. Robinson in Eden Prairie, MN.

Matt was very interested in all aspects of computers and also enjoyed reading, snowboarding, fishing and water sports. He often spent weekends with his family enjoying his parent’s lake home on North Pipe Lake in Wisconsin. In March of 2009, he became a member of Christ Lutheran Church Pipe Lake. In his early years, Matt was active in Cub Scouts and in Tae Kwan Do where he advanced to his black belt by age 13. He also played trumpet and piano during these years.

Matt is lovingly survived by his parents: Robert and Bonnie Flom; sister: Melissa Flom and her boyfriend Tyler Buss; brother and sister-in-law: Corbin and Tracy Flom; niece: Hannah; nephews: Jacob, Alex, Lucas and Sam; maternal grandmother: Irene S. Novosad; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Matt was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Harold and Mary Flom of Faribault and maternal grandfather, William C. Novosad of Gaylord, MN.

Matt was a tender and loving son and brother. All of his family and friends were first and foremost in his heart. His generosity and kindness were felt and appreciated by all who knew him. He was a one-of-a-kind soul who was always willing to lend a hand, who made gatherings much more fun and was known for his loud laugh, sharp wit and intelligent conversation. Matt often said how grateful he was for the bright moments in his life due to his wonderful, loving family and his faithful and supportive friends. His faith in God was strong and steadfast.
