Jane T. Corey

Jane T. Corey, age 53, of Fountain City, WI, died on Thursday, January 28, 2010, in La Crosse, WI.

She was born on January 19, 1957, to Wilbert and Dorothy (Verdick) Bublitz, in Winona, MN.  She married Lon DeVorak on August 29, 1978, and they later divorced.  On October 3, 1998, she was united in marriage with Bruce Corey at St. Casimir’s Catholic Church in Winona, MN.

Jane was a member of St. Casimir’s Catholic Church.

Jane was a graduate of Winona Senior High School and attended Winona State University to pursue a degree in Criminal Justice.  She worked for the Winona County Sheriff’s Department, and also as a reserve police officer for the City of Goodview and as a security guard.  Jane was also employed by Home and Community Options and St. Anne Extended Healthcare.

She enjoyed gardening, camping, reading, and collecting roosters.  Women’s rights were important to Jane, and she lobbied at the state capitol; she wasn’t afraid to speak her mind.  Jane was a happy person who was also always smiling, laughing, and teasing.  She had a heart of gold and was always the first to call and lend a hand to anyone in need.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce Corey, Fountain City, WI; children, Aaron (Erin) DeVorak, Winona, MN, and Bradley (Lisa) DeVorak, Stockton, MN; special great-niece, Samantha Blaschka; step-children, Isaac (Melanie) Corey, Lake City, MN, Ian (Mindy) Corey, Winona, MN, and Sarah (Joe) Davis, Winona, MN; 6 grandchildren and 8 step-grandchildren; siblings, Donald (Judy) Bublitz, Jerry Bublitz, Mary (Arnie) Schell, Josie Wick, Donna (Wayne) Blaschka, Alice (Randy) Evenson, Randy (Tina) Bublitz; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; as well as other relatives and friends.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 AM, on Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at St. Casimir’s Catholic Church.

The Reverend Paul Breza will officiate.
