Richard John (Dick) Cieminski, 79, of Winona, MN, died peacefully at his home on Friday, March 9, 2012. He was born in Winona, MN, on September 30, 1932, to Constantz (aka Conrad) and Ramona Cieminski (Williams). He married Lorraine Norma Waldera on November 17, 1951, a marriage of 47 years. Together they raised six children.
Dick was a dedicated and renowned stained glass artisan. He worked mainly in Chicago with his company Jon Lee Art Glass, which he founded in 1962. He is remembered as a man who found pleasure in the mysteries of life, a craftsman, a conversationalist, and a grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lorraine Cieminski of Winona, MN; son, Nicholas Francis Cieminski of Tyler, TX; daughter, Nancy Ann Kalmes of Winona, MN; and brother, Patrick Cieminski of Winona, MN.
Dick is survived by his loving and caring wife, Kathryn (Hesch); his children, Constance Jean (Brian) Wagner of Bozeman, MT, Cathleen Jo (Syed) Faruque of Winona, MN, Judy Kay (David) Weiland of San Diego, CA, and R.J. (Amie) Cieminski of Greely, CO; grandchildren, Renae (Michael) Hobbs, Amy Moore, Brian (Monika), Lorraine, Conrad, Lillian and Elliot Weiland, and Mitchell and Courtney Cieminski; great-grandchildren, Tristan, Isabella, and Harper Hobbs; siblings, Connie Buswell, Geraldine Hengel, Rosemary Todd, Lois Schwab, Judy Lewis, Nancy Vikry, Nikki Rose Worner, and Michael Mangen; his dearest friend, Dr. Steven E. Smith; and life-long friend, Robert Lovas, Sr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 1 PM, on Friday, March 16, 2012, at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka.
Monsignor Roy E. Literski will officiate.
Dick will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 PM until 7 PM, on Thursday, March 15, 2012, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 6:45 PM, followed by a time to share stories. Visitation will also be held at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka, on Friday, March 16, 2012, from 12 Noon until 12:45 PM.
Pallbearers will be R.J. Cieminski, Brian Weiland, Conrad Weiland, Elliot Weiland, William Hesch, and Syed Faruque.
